Villa Giglio | Property for sale
Country: Italy
Region: Tuscany
Zone: Firenze - Bagno a Ripoli

This prestigious villa is immersed in the green countryside of Florence, situated partly in the territory of the Valdarno Superiore, near the Chianti region. Though the city of Florence is just 5 km, the area has maintained its peace, cuddled in a landscape of unique beauty.
The historical origins of this place are very important. Born as an Etruscan village, later it became a spa town where the Romans built several villas. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance it developed as a center of agriculture and commerce. Its reputation as a rich, fertile and flourishing land accompanied it throughout its history, so much so that during the Nineteenth century it was described as “the garden of Florence”.
The villa is an invaluable imprint of history: dating from the sixteenth century, it was owned by the famous Medici family. Externally, it looks like an elegant clear building in the center of a very nice park, that's well exposed to the sun. The land covers about 4 hectares and has lush and typically Tuscan vegetation. The garden is adorned with flower beds, pots and many hedges.
The property includes the historic house and another building, a dependence, including all technical areas and a farm remittance.
The villa measures a total of 900 m2 and consists of two floors. The building has been completely renovated with particular attention to safeguarding all the typical features of Tuscan architecture, such as the characteristic brick flooring, the exposed beams, the large arches and the beautiful stone fireplaces, decorated with sculptures and ornaments. Many structural and decorative elements of the Reinassance house underline its historical value. For example, you will be enchanted by the timeless charm of the large atrium at the entrance to the garden: it is a room that joins the two floors together through an old gray stone stairway; upstairs there is a small loggia with octagonal columns and an internal balcony located along the inner walls. The elegant parapet, also made of stone, the precious marble vases and the beautiful bas-reliefs are further decorative elements of this area of the villa.
There is also a chapel, which once was the small private sanctuary of the resident family. The little church is still consecrated and is characterized by the presence of ancient frescoes that highlight its simple and original beauty. Currently there isn't a pool in the park, but the great outdoor space available makes it possible to built it.
